The Irish House has revamped it’s food menu recently and I cannot help but rave about it. I dropped in at this immensely popular pub last week, on an invitation and even though it was the middle of the week, the place was filled with people and abuzz with excitement.
The new menu has some rather interesting inclusions and being accompanied by pictures, gives a clear idea of what each dish will be like. Of the range of things I tried, I particularly liked the Sour Dough Fondue Bowl. The warm, liquid cheese filled in a bread bowl and accompanied with bite sized pieces of broccoli, grilled chicken, sweet potatoes and sausages is a perfect plate to be shared at a table. If that wasn’t cheesy enough, there was the Cheese Jammers with their crunchy casings and soft, oozy centres, complete with a sweet chilli dip.
Another standout for me was the Moroccan Lamb Bowl consisting of spicy coucous and tender little pieces of lamb in a peppery sauce.
The portion sizes were hearty and the presentation was great. Service is pretty quick even when the place is full. However, the only downside would be that the loud music can drown half of the conversation.
Also, the Nutty Caramel Pie was a badass slice of 3 things I love – chocolate, nuts and caramel and the rich, thick caramel sauce to be poured on the pie was pure gold.
